“Writing poems about death or listening to songs about death.” Wasserman says talking to someone about their suicidal thoughts can be a good first step. “I think it’s important to talk about it,” Wasserman said. “There is a common misconception that if you talk about suicide it puts the idea in someone’s head and they would do it, and that’s false. “By talking about it, it allows content the person to open the discussion, talk about it, and get the help that they need.” If you suspect someone is at risk for suicide – take it seriously. encourage them to get help and the solution often isn’t simple. It can take time to find the right doctor or medication, but know that with treatment, suicide is preventable. Whether that’s seeing a mental health professional, being on medication, seeing primary care physician if something is not right.. It is preventable.
